The Board of Directors meets quarterly to oversee all grant funding requests. Directors participate in site visits to organizations requesting funding from the Foundation. The Board has ultimate authority and accountability for the organization’s assets and finances, strategic directions and impacts, and operational policies.

Julie joined the JSGF in its first year, starting as a part-time administrator and working her way up to Executive Director, a position she has held for more than 30 years.  Julie is a respected leader in the nonprofit sector of Long Beach, often acting as an advocate for organizations and agencies.  Her vision and efforts, along with fellow Founding Directors, led to the creation of The Nonprofit Partnership, a well respected 501 (c)(3) organization that offers capacity building services, workshops and networking opportunities to regional nonprofits.  As Executive Director, Julie reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for budgeting, vetting grant applications, representing the JSGF in the community, and monitoring the progress of grants awarded. Julie earned a Master of Social Work degree from Long Beach State University in 2018.

Danielle provides program support for grant related coordination, communication, research and other grant-making priorities. Danielle serves as Vice President of the Rose Park Neighborhood Association Board in Long Beach to support the values and concerns of its residents. She previously worked at Seattle University as an academic advisor for aspiring public sector leaders, and led the communications, outreach and event planning efforts for the Master of Public Administration and undergraduate public affairs programs. Danielle has over 20 years working in the nonprofit sector, she earned a Master of Public Administration degree with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from Portland State University.
